Party Like a Rockstar 2.0

Drawn entirely by hand, including the background, then had effects added to it on Photoshop (the glowing effect) and I smudged my hand-drawn background for a more natural, fluid look. The end result, to me at least, is freaking awesome. And I normally hate my art. But this actually looks like a real concept art for the show's opening credit/title sequence.

Ember and her older sister, Blaze, who I created back in 2006.

This piece is a re-draw of a piece done in 2011. I have since gotten much better at keeping the characters on-model. Butch Hartman's unique style may look simplistic enough but it's actually pretty difficult to draw them looking exactly like they would on the show.

The 2011 piece has a lazily done generic background added on the program GIMP. For those of you who are fans of the show, you'll notice the background on the new piece is set in the Ghost Zone, making the piece look more authentic. I usually hate doing backgrounds but this abstract one was pretty fun.

Name: Blaze McLain

Age: Older than Ember

Gender: Female

Species: Ghost (recently deceased)

Powers: Generic ghost powers (intangibility, invisibility, flying, ectoblasts, ecto-barrier, that weird shadow-close jutsu power, etc...)

Special/Unique Abilities: Immune to the Fenton Thermos; Has the unique ability to open a portal to either the Ghost Zone or the human world by whipping her hair round and round until it grows into a fiery wind tunnel, where a portal opens in the center. It remains open for only a few seconds, enough time to either escape from the Ghost Zone into the human world or push Danny INTO the Ghost Zone, trapping him there. Anyone who is touched/brushed by her inferno hair suffers severe frost burn.

Family: Older sister to Ember McLain

Occupation: Was a professional singer in a band when she was alive. Wishes to pick up her tour where she left off, but this time perform with Ember.

Likes: Singing (her #1 passion), hanging out with Ember, being free to do what she wants, performing with Ember (something they never got to do together when they were alive).

Dislikes: Being told what to do, when people piss her off, being called a coward, seeing her sister in trouble or pain, and of course, Danny. She dislikes him most of all (because he tries to tell her what to do and where she can and can't go).

Personality: Blaze is strong willed and an independent thinker. Has real issue with authority. Feels both her and her sister were dealt an unfair hand in life. Resents Danny for trying to keep her and the others prisoners in the Ghost Zone. Hot temper, easily enraged.  

Bio: Blaze was on tour when Ember died in the house fire. Blaze had planned to surprise her sister that cold December day by showing up unannounced and taking her on tour with the band, which was Ember's dream. Blaze was tormented by the untimely loss of her little sister, but would need to grieve on the tour bus as the band was still touring. She returned to find they had decided to bring another young girl along as their roadie. Blaze struck up a friendship with her, as the youngster reminded her of Ember.

Exactly one year to the date of Ember's death, Blaze's tour bus lost control on an icy road and plunged into a frozen river; driver was killed on impact. She helped the other band members escape, but found the young girl unconscious and pinned beneath the seats. Blaze worked tirelessly to free the girl, despite the fact that the bus was quickly filling up with icy water. By the time she freed the girl and pushed her into the blindly grasping hands of the others through the back window, the ice gave way fully under the weight of the quickly submerging bus. Within moments, the freezing water filled the sinking bus, trapping Blaze inside where she froze/drowned (seriously, whichever came first).

Because space/time in the Ghost Zone is infinite, there's no telling how long Blaze wandered the empty recesses of the realm before reuniting with her sister (I can see this reunion scene being very feelsy for a show like Danny Phantom, which focuses more on gags than feels). As she slowly learns how to control her new powers (with the help of Ember and her friends, Spectra and Kitty) and learn the rules, Blaze soon finds injustice in Danny's desire to force all Ghosts to remain in the depressing realm at all times. She decides to not listen to his "rules" and ultimately ends up challenging him for her right (and the right of ghosts everywhere) to come and go as they please. Danny soon finds out that Blaze is a powerful adversary when their battle ends up with him trapped in the Ghost Zone, where the odds of finding his way back in a timely matter are slim.

It is thought that because Blaze sacrificed herself to save another, she was gifted with her unique abilities such as not being able to be sucked into the Fenton thermos and being able to open her own portals at will, thus being impossible to trap.

Though she suffered an icy death, her "fire" theme carried over from her band persona into her current look. Despite the fact that her colors and hair reflect heat, her hair causes painful freezer-burn if it touches someone while she's whipping it.
